Louth -Nursery.

Mr Richard Gray invited us to •; look round the above nursery. owned ,| j by him on the Norbiton road. The : primary reason for desiring this visit ■ , arose from Mr Gray having had a splendid crop of raspberries this yean,.. > a matter of much consequence td him as he manufactures a pure refreshing drink from the fruit, anct so the more raspberries he gathers the more dozens of Syrup can he make. Mr Gray was determined ; that the fact he had raspberries growing should be impressed upon our mind, and very fine canes they are, standing nearly 8 feet high, but <i they have nearly done fruiting. In different places were long rows of : raspberries, and we were informed that altogether something like three- : quarters of an acre were in this ; fruit. Mr Gray has given his atten- ,"; tion to the culture of this fruit for i; years, and to the manufacture of his | syrup which has justly gained a high | name for being a pure manufacture i having a refreshing bouquet, and as j a cooling drink, so that he has iijlj secured the best canes possible. It 1 was pointed out to us with pardonable pride a seedling raspberry raised by Mr Gray, the result of a ct^JJ^ between two very fine kinds, iSE?^ which appeared to be superior both in growth and cleanliness of the canes, and the size arid richness of

the fruit to all others there growing. We shall have more to say about Louth Nursery as -the garden is the most tastefully laid out one in Foxton and contains many handsome specimen trees, and examples of tree and hedge trimming and bank planting which are well worth inspecting.
