The Wool Sales.
Messrs Levin and Co., Limited, report :— The Becond sale was held on Thursday, large catalogues totalling 13,000 bales being presented by the Associated Brokers. We regret that the eaie went off badly. Becent cables from London pointed to a weakened mark t, uut lew had been led to expect a drop such as was in evidence today. Competition was weak and the bidding very Irregular, and it is difficult to guage the aotual fal which extended to all classes of wool, and consequently caused extremely heavy withdrawals. The only lots which did sell well were bellies, pieces, and looks. Lambswool reached, in some instances, good prices, one lot bringing B£d, but the greater proportion sold about 6d to 64d, whilst seedy lambs brought as low as 6a. For fine orossbreds, for which at the December sale 9id might have been obtained, 8d to B|'J was bid to-day, and the heavy offerings of medium orossbreds, which predominate in Wellington catalogues, reaised to day 6W to 6fd, against 7id to 8d last December. We quoteFine crossbreds, 6|d to 7jd, ap to BJd for superior; medium crossbred, 6d to 6£d; coarse crossbred, sfd to Shi; logstained, 4£d to sd; lambs, superior, 7d to 8d; medium, 6sd to 6£d ; seedy, 5d to 6Jd. Wellington, 26th January, 1900.
