It is with the deapest regret we have to record the death of Mr G. Laurenson which occurred at an early hour on Saturday morning. Deceased who was aged 33 years returned to Palmerston from Auckland about three mouths ago in a weak state of health, and it was hoped that the change of air would have a beneficial effect, but unfortunately the expectation was not realised. Mr Laurenson gradually grew weaker and weaker, until death relieved the sufferer. Deceased was Jborn in 'the Shetland Islands, and at the age of eight years arrived wijh his parents in this colony After a residence of four years in the South Island the family removed to Palmerston North, where they have been settled ever since. The late Mr Laurenson was educated in Palmerston, and subsequently entered the service of the Wanganni Education Board as a teacher, being located at the Foxton school for six years in that capacity. Mr Laurenson eventually resigned his position as a school teacher and again took up his residence in Palmerston Ncrth. At the expiration of two years he entered the local Post Office, and has been connected with the department for a period extending over .ten years. The deceased was one ot the most popular young men in the town, and he well deserved to be, for a more gentlemanly and unassuming person it would be impossible to meet. He possessed considerable literary ability, and this gift he used to the best advantage during the time he was editor of the Palmerston Mutual Improvement Society's journal.
