Foxton Borough Council.
The usual monthly meeting of the above Council was held at the Library buildings last night. Present— The Mayor, Crs Baker, Austin, Aldridge, Purcell, Jenks and Spelman. i The minutes of the*previous meeting were read and confirmed. The following resolutions were passed : — Proposed by Cr Baker, seconded by Cr Austin, That the matter re furze on Moutoa road be left inthe hands'of the engineer to attend to, and see that Mr White is not troubled with furze. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Aldridge, That the engineer's report re fences on bridges and drain culverts be adopted. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Purcell, That tenders be called for collecting the dog tax, lighting the Borough lamps and Borough carting. Tenders to close on 20th Dec. at noon. Proposed by Cr Jenks, seconded by Cr Purcell, That the engineer's report as read be adopted. Proposed by Cr Jenks, seconded by Cr Purcell, That the accounts as read be passed for payment. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Jenks, That the name of Clara Sawyera be removed from rolls and
that of George Morgan inserted ; that the name of S. L. Westwood be removed and P. L. Hennessy inserted for section 32 ; that the name of T. Westwood be removed and Cornelius Sullivan inserted for part section 48 ; that the name of T. Westwood be removed and that of Edmund Osborne be inserted for part Blk. 8, store ; that the name of R. J. McKee be removed and Thomas Westwood inserted for No. 253 on roll, part sec. 156, on the several parties consenting ; that Henry Border be removed and William Hunter be inserted for Family Hotel. Proposed, by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Jenks, That the next ordinary meeting of the Council be held on 20th December next, immediately after the installation of the Mayor elect. Proposed by Cr Baker, seconded by Cr Spelman, That this Council take steps to have all cans used for dairy purposes within the Borough inspected at once by the Inspector of Stock. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Purcell, That the Town Clerk be instructed to employ W. Alzdorf .to complete plan of cemetery now in possession of Council, and show distinctly every existing grave thereon, and that no future site be gfanted until same is marked on plan. A proposal by Cr Spelman, seconded by Cr Aldridge, That a windmill be fixed upon the artesian well in Avenue road, was not carried. Ptpriosed by Cr Baker, seconded by Cr Austin, That a by-law be passed restricting the codlin-moth pest in the Borough, and that the clerk be instructed to obtain legal advice re the matter. Proposed.by Cr Jenks, seconded by Cr Purcell, That Dr Meares be appointed Health Officer for the Borough i of Foxton. Proposed by Cr Purcell, seconded by Cr Aldridge, That the mowing oi the Foxton cemetery be left in the hands of the engineer to deal with.
