The Cotton Planter Minstrels.
We remind our readers that on Wednesday next the above company of amateurs will make their bow before a Foxton audience. We bespeak for them a good attendance as they have been selected by an able musician, and amongst the singers there are some hard to beat. Among a few of the singers, there are 18 performers in all, we may mention the Messrs Mcßain, who has a powerful and rich bass voice ; Byron Brown, a rich baritone ; W. , Greenough, a sweet tenor; and H. Grapes, a baritone. These performers have just given an entertainment at Otaki and the Mail describes it as being a capital evening's amusement, The corner men are good, and the jokes harmless but amusing and free from antiquity. We are likely to hear " Soldiers of the Queen " as Mr Grapes brought down the house by the splendid style he sang it, and the audience were stirred to join in the chorus. Probably we may have an act on the trapeze, as Mr Campbell gave a very clever performance, and he is said to have proved himself a gymnast of exceptionable ability.
