Arrival of the s.s. Planet.

The s.s. Planet left Auckland at 8 a.m. on the 27th October ; arrived at Gisborne at 9 p.m. on the 29th ; had moderate west winds and fair weather till arrival, when a gale came on from N.E. changing to S.E., which detained the boat at Gisborne for four days ; left Gisborne at 3.30 p.m. on the 2nd November, had fine weather to Cape Turnagain, when a strong N.W. gale came on which obliged the skipper to shelter under Castlepoint for three days ; left Castlepoint at 5 a.m. on the Bth, and arrived at Wellington at 7.30 a.m. on the 9th, having been hoveto under the land for 8 hours in a strong N.W. gale, and being unable to anchor; left Wellington at 6.15 a.m. on the 10th and crossed the bar at 6 p.m. the same day, arriving at the wharf at 7.30 p.m. The actual steaming time was 120 hours, the rest of the time being anchored or hove-too. The .whole passage was an anxious one, the barometer having foretold bnd weather all along. Great credit is due to those who assisted Captain Kemp in bringing the little vessel down, for the plucky way in which they stuck to their work all through under most trying circumstances. The Planet has proved herself to be a thoroughly reliable little boat under most trying circumstances, and a good seaboat.
