CAPE COLONY.
The army of Free Btate burghers, two thousand strong, which recently appeared at Aliwal North, has passed into Cape territory, but has halted at Burghersdorp. It is awaiting reinforcements preparatory to occupying Stormberg, a junction station on the main railway from East London.
The British troopa who were encamped at Stormberg evacuated the position a day or two ago and retired southwards to Queenstown. Another Free State force has eff jcted a june {ion with the commando which recently crossed the Orange river and took possession of Oolesberg. It is understood that the troops of New Bouth Wales Lancers, who landed at Capetown the other day have been sent to De Aar on the Kimberley railway, where the British forces are understood to be assembling prior to proceeding to the relief of the beleaguered garrison. Martial law has been proclaimed at De Aar and the Orange river districts.
