Lieut. Matthews, of Hawera, joins the New Zealand Transvaal contingent. Egerton, Lord Devonshire's nephew •vho was wounded at Ladysmith, hid hir. legs amputated. He has been promoted. He has since died. Captain Kennedy, with a company of Sappers, has started for the Cape to utilise Marconi's wireless telegraphy in connection with the war.
A number of specially mounted twelve pounder quick firers, a new fifteen pounder quick firers and 400 seamen and gunners left Portsmouth for the front.
