OTAKI RACES. The second day's races of the Otaki Maori Racing Club's spring meeting, 'which had to be postponed from Thursday, were held on Saturday in fine weather. There was a limited attendance, not more that 400 'persons being present. There was a fair amount of speculation, and the sum of £1,946 was put through the machine, making a total of £5,505 for the two days and £698 more than the record for the corresponding meeting of last year. Following are the results :— Trial Handicap, of 25 soys. ; second horse, 5 soys. Seven furlongs. 42 Wonder, 7st iolb (Jenkins), 1 ; 42 Myra, Bst gib (Reed), 2 ; 36 Rimlock, Bst 81b (Carmont), 3. Also started— 93 Tui, 22 General Wolfe, 18 Inkerman. Won comfortably by two lengths and a half, the rest bunched togeiher. Time, imin. 36£ sec. Totalisator, 252 — dividend, £5 Bs. Birthday Handicap, of 60 soys. ; second horse, 10 soys. One mile and a furlong. 99 Gobo, Bst nib (Jenkins), 1 ; 60 Worry, gst lib (Reed) 2 ; 40 Hauriri, 7st 51b (Price), 3. Also started— 91 Southerly Buster, 47 Punawai. Won easily by three lengths, a head between second and third. Time, 2min. 4sec. Dividend, £3 is. Second Hurdle Handicap, of 40 soys. ; second horse, 5 soys. One mile and a half. 134 The Guard, gst 131 b (Hughes), 1 ; 31 Rimlock, lost 81b (Fowler), 2; 115 Hutana, 11st iolb (Cochrane), 3. Also started — 44 Rongotea, 2 Manukura. Won comfortably by a length and a halt "Time, 2min. 58 3-ssec. Totatfsator, 341 — dividend, £2 ss. Railway Plate, of 25 soys. ; second horse, 5 soys. Three-quarter mile. 83 Gobo, iost 131 b (Jenkins), 1 ;- 2 Morning, iost 1 ilb (Carmont), 2 ; 24 Sudar, iost 1 ilb (Proctor), 3. Also started — 7 Czarina. Won easily by . three lengths. Time, imin. 23 i-ssec. Totalisator, 115 — dividend, £t ss. Rangiuru Handicap, of 40 soys. ; second horse to receive 5 soys. from the stakes. One mile. 190 Worry, gst 71b (Reed), 1 ; 141 Stockade gst 4lb (Carmont), 2 ; 46 Hauriri, 7st 131 b (Price), 3. Also started — 6 General Wolfe, The Masher. Won easily by four lengths. Time, imin. sosec. Totalisator, 363 — dividend, £2 14s. Electric Handicap, of 30 soys.; second horse to receive 5 soys from the stakes. Five furlongs. 26 7st 81b (Jackson), 1; 28 Kaimai, 7st gib (Fowler), 2; 34 Pastime, 7st iolb (Daniels), 3. Also started— 44 Cavendish, 83 Discount, 17$ lota, 12 Royalty. Won by two lengths after a good race. The same distance separated the second add third horses. Time, imin. 6sec. Totalisator, 405— dividend, £14. Raukawa Plate, of 25 soys.; second horse to receive 5 soys. from the stakes. Seven furlongs. 130 Southerly Buster, gst (Rayhor), 1 ; 43 Tui, Bst I2lb (Parker), 2; 2 Tutua, Bst iolb (Pritchard), 3. Also started — o Manukura, Czarina, 17 Myra. Won with ridiculous ease by four or five lengths. Time, imin. 34sec. Dividend, £1 16s.
