ing the arrival and opening up of their spring and summer shipments, comprising 96 cases, packages and bales of direct importations from the Home and Continental markets, which are probably the largest shipments of new goods ever opened out in Palmerston North. These goods are bong'it by the firm's London agents, mainly direct from the manufacturers, with the result that no better values can he found in New Zealand. The firm have recently largely extended their premises by the appropriation of the adjoining premises, . in which are displayed the Soft goddS furnishings, .comprising carpets, linoleums, lace and art muslin; curtains, and such-like goods, in the newly-occupied premises. There has also been opened out a Boot and Shoe Department. This branch of business is now recognised by leading drapers both in the Old Country and the new as a consistent branch of the soft foods trade. This department is nn? er the management of Mr ). ]. Mitchell, from Christchurch, who has been expressly engaged to control this branch. He possesses an extensive knowledge of the boot trade, and his newly selected stock will be found fully up to date both in style and price. The firm anticipate and have provided for a large extension of their business during the coming season, which will doubtless be realised.
