STARTING MACHINE.

Last night a committee meeting of the above Club was held to consider the dates for the Summer meeting, and the amount of stakes. Present — E. S. Tbynne, Vice-presi-dent (in the chair) ; G. Gray, Treasurer ; J. R. Whyte, Secretary; Walter Robinson, J. Howan, H. Thynne, J. F. Overend, W. B. Rhodes, W. Barber and W. Purcell. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Letters from J. E. Henrys and the promoters of the " John Coyle " Memorial were read. On the motion of Mr Walter .Robinson, seconded by Mr G. Gray, It was resolved that the race meeting be held on Saturday 20th and Monday 22nd of January. The programme was then fully discussed and the stakes were increased by £50. The first day's racing to have seven events of the value of £340, and the second day eight events to the value of £310. The programme was then agreed to as under : — FIRST DAY. Flying Hack Race of 40 soys. First Hack Hurdle Handicap of 40 soys. The Foxton Cup of 100 soys. Maiden Hack Race of 25 soys. Stewards Hack Handicap of 60 soys. Summer Handicap of 50 soys. Welter Hack Handicap of 25 soys. SECOND DAT. January Hack Handicap of 40 soys. Maiden Hack Hurdle Handicap of 25 soys. The President's Handicap of 70 soys. Grand Stand Hack Handicap of 50 soys. Second Hack Hurdle Handicap of 35 soys. Carnarvon Welter Handicap of 25 soys. Railway Handicap of 40 soys. Electric Hack Race of 25 soys. Mr Howan proposed and Mr Walter Robinson seconded, That a starting machine be secured and used for all races under a mile, provided that the cost does ndt exceed £s.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Walter Robinson, seconded by Mr E. S. Thynne, That Naylon & Spriggen's offer to work the totalisator be accepted. — Carried. An account to R. Gray for £\i 15s 6d was passed for payment. It was agreed to subscribe £3 3s to the " John Coyle " Memorial Fund. Mr J. Pringle was elected a member of the Club.
