Operation on the Minister of Lands.

The Post's London correspondent, writing under date July 21, says :— The Hon. John McKenzie underwent on Tuesday last the operation which has been so long impending. I am glad to be able /to state that it proved entirely successful, and has resulted- in apparently securing to Mr McKenzie a " long lease of life." The internal trouble from which he has suffered for a considerable time past, appeared to be of a nephritic character.and some misgivings were entertained as to its probable outcome. Fortunately 4 there seems every reason to believe that this unfavourable prognosis will prove unwarranted. Dr. H. Fenwick, a renowned specialist in such cases, performed the operation, whicW lasted forty-five minutes. The patient was kept under chloroform the whole time and took the anaesthetic very satisfactorily, so no pain was ■experienced. The growth which has caused all the trouble was skilfully removed, and the patient speedily rallied, the affected organs working all rights, * Mr McKenzie will be confined to bed for about three weeks, but Dr. Fenwick. is confident that he will make a complete recovery. At Mr McKertzie's request, Mr J. G. Ward was present during the operation, and Mr W. P. Reeves returned to town in order that he might be at hand if required. My latest intelligence is that the patient is going on as well as could possibly be desired.
