Three of the crew who escaped on a raft, were reduced to a terrible extremity through lack of food.
Ultimitell they decided to cast lots to decide whose Ufa should ba sacrificed to save the others.
The rmn on whom the lot fell, was killed and eaten by hia companion 3 , who drank his blood.
The two survivors were picked up in a half d^manted state, and Uken to Charleston
