ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual general meeting took place last night at 8.30 o'clock at Mr Stansell's hotel. A fair number of members were present, and Mr B. G. Gower was voted to the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The secretary read the report and balance sheet tor the past season as follows :— TKMTH ANNUAL REPORT OP f if* MAMA> WATU ROWING CLUB. • Gentlemen, — Your Committee have much pleasure in presenting the tenth annual report and balance sheet of the Club, and must say that the interest taken during last season did not come up to expectations. The 7, however, hope that now the new shed is completed and fresh plant available, which has run the Club into a considerable amount of expense, that more interest will be shewn during the coming season. The balance sheet shpws. that th» expenditure exceeds fhtf receipts by £8 175 Bd. To pay thl* liability the Committee borrowed £10 with interest 10s, making £10 10s. The balance in hand is £i 2s 4d, and this deducted from £10 10s leaves the Club in debt to the extent of £g y» Bd. The Committee would suggest to the members the necessity of paying up their subscriptions juhtoon as possible, so that (h« above liability could be cleared off, ancFa good "start made for the present season. W. McDermott, Hon. Sec. J. F. Overend, Hon. Treas. Foxton, Aug. 31. The report and balance sheet wtre adopted as read. The election of officers Was then proceeded with, and resulted as follows .-—President, Walter Robinson, Esq. ; captain, Mr B. G. Gower ; vicecaptain ; Mr J. H. Howan ; secretary, Mr W. McDermott ; treasurer, Mr J. F. Overend (all these gentlemen being re-elected.) The following were proposed as a committee :— Messrs Staff, A. Stansell, W. Baker, G. Stiles, and W. Cook. A ballot resulted in the old committee being re-elected, viz., Messrs Stiles, Stansell and Cook. Messrs P. Hennessy and E. Osborne were appointed auditors. The following new member* were proposed : — Messrs W. Hunter, Geo. Baker, S. Burr, W. Purcell, W. Dar. vill and L. A. Voltz. It was decided to open the rowing season on the 4th October (Mfednesday afternoon) by a' procession of boats. r Resolved to obtain a copy of rules from Wellington and Star Clubs for the purpose of revising present? rules, and that a special meeting be-called to confirm them. ' ' : . ; The advisability of having the shed painted was mentioned, and it was thought by members to be a vety ne« cessary work when funds are available. It was also mentioned by a member of the Horowhenua Rowing Club that there was every probability of the sister Club sending, over a boat or two to take part jn a procession at the opening of theseasotlf' | f ." ; '" J "' The meeting then "closed with the customary votes of thanks.
