The Transvaal.

Germans in Johannesburg have volunteered for service with tbp Boers, and have asked to be formed into a separate corps. In connection with the allegation by the London " Standard," that widespread treason exfsts amongst tha Boers in Cipe Colony and Natal the Premier of Natal (LieutenantColonel A. H. Hima) states that his Government is endeavouring to discover and panish traitors. A thousand men belonging to the Ist Battalion (formsrly 68rd Foot) of the Manchester Begiment arc leaving Gibraltar for the Cape, also fifty members of the Medical Corps. Great Britain has warned the Tran3vaal that Cape " boy 3 " musf be exempt from the provisions of the Act relating to coloured people's locations. The First Volksraad,, by 18 votes r,o 9, decided to maintain the dynamite monopoly, but to make a redaction in the price of the explosive to the users. la correspondence on the subject >f the monopoly, Mr Chamberlain, British Colonial Secretary, repeatedly trgued that it was contrary to article 14 of the London Convention of 1884. In consequence of fears of a Boer raid the troops at Lorenzo Marques are kept constantly under arms. Beveral Boer emissaries have been arrested at Lorenzo Marques. General Joubert has forbidden the commandeering of strangers in the Transvaal. In correspondence which was published on Saturday Mr Cbamberlain states that the British Government refuses to agree to arbitration in any form on the suzerainty question.
