4 At the laying of the foundation 0) a new Savings Bank at Kensington the Prinoe of Wales, who was re* \ beurlid vrtth loyal enthusiasm, replied tia follows :— lt gives ma sincere plea, sure to be presant, as the repress nta tive of the Queen, my dear mother, to reoeive your loyal address and to lay the first stone of the new Savings Bank buildings. Hei Majesty deßires me to express the great interest she has always taken in the Post Office Savings Bank and tha gratification with whioh she has watohed the business it transacts attain to its present proportions Bhe rejoiced at the stimulus to thrift commerce and industry conferred hy lhe system, which has worked throughout so admirably and has reflected the highest credit on those oor nected with its administration, and which, wbile it brings, %s yoa have said, facilities for fconomy to every man's door, is based on the firmest security. She trusts that the inauguration of these buildings will yet fnrther increase .be popularity of the Post Office Savings Bank and lead to a corresponding benefit to those who invest in this bank, especially the working Masses.
