Professor Maskelyne bas directed i series of successful experiments vith wireless telegraphy.
Signals w;re exchanged with an >. rooaut who a?ceuded in a balloon.
The oeroiaut, at Professor MaskelyDb's direction, exploded a
tail of guncotton cartridges suspended from the oar of the balloon. Another important demonstration of capabilities of the new system was the explosion, without establishing contact, at a distance of 400 yardof a powder magazine.
The professor claimed to be able to achieva rqually successful resultbetween two points ten miles apart.
