More Improvements.
The progress of any town is best guaged by the improvements its business men make in their prosperities. We are thus very pleased to note that Mr Alf. Fraser whose stationery business has been so widely known has found his present place of business so " cribbed, cabined, and confined " as to necessite his removal into very much larger premises. The sale of the late A. J. Whyte's estate gave him the looked for opportunity of acquiring as good a business position as ihs ait present occupies, and he has f pur. chased those premises next to Messrs Walsh and Howan, now in the occupation of Messrs Heasman.and Baker, Having secured a property Mr Fraser intends to lose no time in bringing it up to that state as will suit his increased business, and soon the contractors . will be busy at work altering the. internal arrangements and the painters at work in decorating both inside and outside. The new shop will occupy almost the whole of the ground floor, and will measure some 30 feet in length by 20 feet 'in breadth, with alO foot wall. The present windows will-be removed and new ones substituted which will consist of one whole sheet of plate glass in each. This will be decidedly in advance with the times and will make the shop exceedingly attractive from the road. The shop will have a counter 011 either side running down almost the !^bble length, and at the end a couple of show tables will be placed. Another improvement will be the lighting of! the windows and shop with the AcetyHne I gas. \Ve trus| Mr Alf. Fraser's energy will be rewarded by even a further increase of trade to that which' he has experienced. ! - ■ ■:..' ■ > Mr E. Osborne's alterations are nearly completed and the shop, by the addition of the old wdrkroorn, -has been considerably increased in size. At the back of ; the building a large work-room, well" lighted, has been built, with the addffl^^df a-^tSlh needed trying-6n room; * Mr -Osborne also intends lighting his premises with the new gas. > . Mr Jenks is now at work laying Ahe pipes at Mr-F. Easton's butcher's shop, as he also intends to have his shop lighted with the present day * light. ■-.-'*
