News from Andree.

The Daily Chronicle states there is every reason to believe that a genuine letter from Herr Andree has been found. The bottle containing the letter was picked up on ioe near Rifinthe early part of April by a farmer named Johann Magnasßon, who was hunting for . seals on the great floes of drift ioe which frequently surround tha coast of Ice* land, Breaking the bottle, ha found the letter, which was addressed to the Swedish Polar Expedition, an follows: — "Polar-<xpeditienen, i Gbteborg, Sverige." Me Einai-a-aon sent it on May 6 r .h by the Viking, a trading vessel belonging to Mr Thor E. Tuliniua, of 0 ipanbagea. This vessel left Iceland With general cargo, called at Granton, near Edinburgh, and then sailed foe Copenhagen, where the letter will be delivered as directed. Commenting on this important discovery, which seems to be the firat genuine letter of Andree'd yet found, the " Austri " says it is difficult to say how old the letter may be, as there is no date on on the envelope. It is likely, however, that before Andree resorted to the means of buttlos for communicating with the world, he had used up all his pigeons, or they were dead. The journal also suggests that the fact that the bottle was dispatched signifies that Andree must have come oat of the balloon, or was very near the sea level. . -,,
