Marvellous Markmanship.
There are probably no marksmen in the world whose aim is so accurate and deadly as that of the born IVxm. Even in JTexas, where a hoy abandons hid toy* for a rifle or revolver, tßereW^^t^iteen such i marvellous "marksman as Joseph Tomlinson, whose name 'inspired <uch terror some yelare r ago. No man who "stood up against" him ever lived to fire a second shot, and it used to be said, grimly enough, hat he bad several private graveyards of his own. Many of Tumlin- ■• n\s shooting feat#i^iftil4be inoredft« if they were not witnassed by > many. A favourite feat was to hrow two Mexican dollars into the i/r, and, with a revolver in each hand, send a bullet through. both before they touched the ground. Riding at a gallop, hfl would " write hi* initials " on a tree with a sixshooter; and with a Winchester he, would send a bullet thropgh the head of a quail, a dacb, or a goose in fall flight. At a distance of 60 yds be could bore a hole through the ' centre of a card thrown- into the air and he could, at the same' distance, strike the edge of a plate, with half a -ballets fe W»b^ofas«^«»rkßman as this, it wan quite sufficient for- an op* poaent to say. what pa*tfßsrtar buttoy if his coat he wished" to s be hit for his wish to be gratified.** Another marvellous Texan eh>t is a youth named Petmeeky, the son of i gunsmith. As a single-ball shot, there is probab'y no mm living who can compare with him, unless it be ahother Ttxao. Adolph Toeppe wein, who is astonishing the world by drawing portraits by a rapid sucaeflsion of bullet shot 9. Young Per. meeky thinks nothing of snuffing a candle, 60yds away by a ball from his Winchester rifle. At the same** distance he can hit ibc edge of a knife, or bore a hole through a silver

He throws a brick info the air, breaks ir with one shot, and with two succeding shots shatters the two separate fragments before they reach the earth. His rapidity of firing is so great thas, a 9 the TVxa9 say, he almost •' melts the bullets together in the barrel/
