London. A serious disturbance has occurred at Belfast. A nationalist prooession was passing through the streets when it was stoned by a crowd.
A free fight followed, of such n serious nature that the Riot Act had to be read. Nevertheless, the crowd wouW not disperse, and the police and military were obliged to chargthem. Thirty-two arrests have been bner. mid* 1 . Tbe R'ghfc Hon. Gerald W. Baifour, Chief Secretary for Ireland, in replying in tbe Hou^r of Commons to Mr John Dillon, t.li. Nationalist member for Ea3t Mayo, said he blamed the organisers of tht procession, which was held in com. menaoration of '98, for the rioting at Belfast. The Chief Secretary also considered that the action of th authorities was admirable, and had prevented serious loss of life.
