Justices' Court.
THIS DAY. (Before E. S. Thynne and Alf Fraser, Esqrs., J.s P. Victor Minsoa, alias Mangan, was charged by Constable Forster who obtaining goods by false pretences from Edmund Odborne. Edmund Odborne deposed that accused cams into his shop on Siturday night and obtained goods tmum^ted in tha account on the p'eathi.. h hid work at Walden's mill up i-., X a < , xml hid worked a fortnight, and w»uld bd pud in mother fornighL's time, and ha would p-vy for the goods then. It was tbout 9 30 p m. Philip Hennessy deposed that the accused, or a man of the name of Mangan brought an order from Wilden and Co. for him to pay £8 2." 03, and ha paid the aununt. H. 9 understood that all hands were being paid off The accused signed fche order. This would be between 7 to 6 p.m. The accused had do other pxcuse to off^r than than that he intended to pay Chborne. He admitted the correctness of the evidence. Ha was convicted and fined £5, cists s*, in default one month.-* imprisonment with hard labour in Wan ganui Gaol. Oat of money found >n him he was ordered to pay for the <j)ods he wag weaving, valued at 80', md the other good 3 were ordered to be delivered up to the vendor. Charles Mansion, alia^ Mangin, was charged with a similar offence, and the same evidence was taken. Philip Henoessy produced an ord.>rfrorn Walden *& C>., of £i IS; 41, which wa3 paid accused. There being no satisfactory excuse offered, the accused was fined £5, costs 54, or in default one month's imprisonment with hard labour in Wanganui Gaol, The value of goods worn by accused valued at 10 1 61 to be paid for, the other goods to ba relumed to vendor.
