POLO.
The New Zaaland polo team, which hag not yet suffered a deieated in this colony, engaged the Gaelong team at the Chborne House ground on Fiidiy last and wore again victorious, scoring 9 goals 8 behind* against 4 goals 8 behind^. The Gaelong team were — P. Russell (capt.), W. M. Bill, R. Bill, and H. M. Stracham ; and the Maorilanders - A.. S. Biker {capt.), J. Strang, A. Sirang, and 0. Ribinson. Mr G. Williams umpired for the visitors, Mr J. S. B. Orr for Geelong. The chiff feature of their play (writes a local correspondent) wa3 concertedae33, and their passing frem one to another was loudly applauded. Their hitting was nearly always hard and clean, and the long drives were made with remarkable accuracy. When attacking they proved exceptionally clever many of the strokes being marvellous. Another feature of their play was the clean way in which they •• rode off" their opponents, but in this branch of the game r.he locals shone out conspicuously. The best player on tho ground was undoubtly Mr A. S. Biker, the captain of (the New Zsalanders. His play was of the most dashing order, and his passing, driving, and riding were-well nigh perfection. Next to him it was thought that Mr W. M Ball performed thu bust He payed brilliantly for the most part of the game, and some of his rushes aroused tha utmost enthusiasm. Mr A. Strang and Ml* Robinson also put in great work, and Mr B. Bell did many smart feats, the drive from which he got Geelong's forth and final goal baing deem id the fioest hit during the afternoon.
The New Z salaud team are still resting in Geelong (say 3 the Times), io order to give their ponies a rest b A )re tickling the crack team in the west country. On Saturday they were the guests of the members of the Geelong Gjlf Ckib, and during ihe afternoon had a round at the " link " at North Geelong, and the visitors spoke most enthusiastically of the ground. On Sunday they w^re the guests of Mr W. R. Wilson Wilson, of St Alban?, and a most day wa3 spent at the famous training establishment, over which they wore escorted by Mr 0. L M'Donald. They leave Geeloug to-day (Tuesday), and play Golac on he following day. On 13 h May .hey will bring their Victoriaa pro gramme to a close with the intercolonial match.— The Sportsman.
