Manawatu County Council.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above was held 011 Wednesday. Present — Crs. J. G. Wilson (chairman), T. Masters, J. R. McLennan, T. Clark, H. Hammond, and F. Robinson. Leave of absence tor six months was granted Cr. Strang.
The inward correspondence was dealt with as follows : —
From the Foxton Borough Council notifying that a contract to build the Wirokino bridge had been let to Maurice O'Connor for £4352 16s 8d. — It was decided to raise a loan of £850 toward!* the cost of the works.
From Healey Wilton, Oroua Bridge, asking to be placed on the rate roll for sections 85 and 82, Kawa Kawa, and the valuation reduced.
From S. Knight, chairman of the Horse Shoe Drainage Board, requesting the Council to lower the culverts opposite Mr C. Anderson and Mrs Campion's place : also, to bridge Cambelltown drain in front of Mr Burgess' crossing. — Cr. Clark to attend to these matters.
It was resolved —
That Pearson's name be inserted on the rate roll for the Montoa estate, Awahou riding, in terms of the Assets Realisation Board, and A. Koberstein in place of W. Krebs for part section 19, block 8, Te Kawa.
It was decided to renew the insurance premium with the New Zealand Accident Insurance Company for liability only.
That tenders be called for metalling 30 or 40 chains of River Bank line.
That certain reductions be made in the working expenses of the Tramway. That the tender of J. Wallington be accepted for Foxton- Beach road ; and that of Mr Boyle for the Main Drain road.
That at the next meeting of the Council the bye-laws be considered to prohibit the use of any tires less than sinch in the conduct of heavy traffic, such as carting flax or timber. — Advocate.
