■ «, This Society held its weekly meeting last evening, when there was a gocd attend ince, Mi- (Xbjrne occupied the chair. The subject for debate was " Should women be Allowed a Seat in Parliament." Mrs Woollass opened in the affirmative, with a spirited and well-thought-out speech, while Mr Furrie took the negative Miss L. and M. Austin ably seconded their leader in the affirmative with capital papers, and it was quite evident from the commencement that their arguments were simply unanswerable, and upon a vote of thanks, the meeting ruled that ladies should be allowed a seat in Parliament. The o^her spaaksn weiv, for : — Mes;n*3 H Baker ami \V. J\>n3ton ; against, Messrs Wooliass, E. Ooborne and S. Howau. Musical Ueoi3 ware given by thfi following : — Pianofort selection, Miss Furrie ; reading, Mr H Baker; song, Mis 3 E Spring. The debate for next evening will ba " Ought the Nations to Disarm," affirmative, Mr Wooilass ; riegativp, Mr E. Simpson.
