Deatb of Mrs McWilliam.
We have very much regret in reporting the death of the wife of the Rev. James McWilliam ofOtaki at Te Aute, on Th'ursday morning. Mrs McWilliam was well-known in Wanganui and Saturday's Chronicle thus mentions the occurrence : — We deeply regret having to record the somewhat unexpected death, at the residence of Archdeacon Williams, Te Aute, Hawke's Bay, of Mrs James McWilliam, of Otaki, which occurred on the 4th inst. The deceased lady had been ili for some time, but after a partial recovery she had gone to Te Aute for a change, which it was fondly hoped would prove beneficial. A sudden relapse, however, occurred, to which she succumbed, and the sad news was made known by telegram yesterday morning. Mrs McWilliam was well-known in Wanganui many years ago, where she resided in the family of Mrs H. Hurley. Ultimately she removed with her husband to Otaki, where the family have resided ever since, engaged in mission work among the natives. The late Mrs McWilliam was indeed a helpmeet to her husband. Her death occasions a loss which will be felt beyond the family circle, for both settlers and natives ever had a share of her motherly solicitude in times of trouble and sickness. We extend our deep sympathy to the bereaved husband and family, and to the large circle of relatives and friends who are mourning the loss of one so universally beloved.
