Fulfillment of a Prophecy.

Mr Archibald Denny, of the British shipbuilding firm Messrs Wm. 1 Denny and Bros., who was feted yesterday afternoon by the Marine Engineers, left this afternoon for the North. Mr Denny will visit Rotorua, and on the 15th instant leaves by the Alameda for America, en route for Home. Although his visit to New Zealand has been a brief one, Mr Denny will have seen many interesting sights, including gold-dredging, operations on the Southern rivers and beaches, with which, in a conversation with a Post representative, he expressed himself greatly interested. One of his tegrets is that he was unable to spend more time in Wellington, which he found containing so many interesting people. •'Yours is a fine country, said the visitor, " and contains great possibili- *- ties. Apropos to yesterday afternoon's ceremony, Mr Denny related a peculiar incident which occurred in February last. "When I was in India," he said, " I had my horoscope cast by an Indian fakir or soothsayer. These fellows are considered clever at for-tune-telling, and among other things he told me that within five months I should be the recipient of an honour in my profession, and exhibiting the,* gold badge presented at the meeting) • here it is. And, more than that, the fakir said that the honour had already been decided upon." "Well," re« marked Mr Hislop, Secretary of the New Zealand Marine Engineers' In- . stitute, "it was in February that the Institute decided to make you an associate so soon as .you reached the colony." — Post.
