Householders' Meeting.
Last night a few of the householders of the district assembled at the schoolhouse to hear the report of the outgoing committee and to elect a new committee. Mr P. Hennessy, the Chairman of the Committee, took the chair. The report of the outgoing committee read mentioned regret at the Rev. R. Young's leaving the district, and his position as chairman. Mr Simmonds' energy and liberality was duly recorded, and the report mentions that they " are now waiting tor another good beggar to come along!" A joint gift from the Rev. R. Young and Mr Alt Fraser of £1 16s 6d was duly acknowledged. The number on the school roll on the 31st March was 258. The abstract of school accounts showed that the year began with a balance to credit of £10 8s 2d, and tliere were the following sums also received : — From Education Board, £29 6s ; Board grant for building shed, £5 15s sd ; for prizes, £20 5s 6d ; from entertainment, £11 gs (kl, and fines £2, 6s, making a total of £79 10s 7d. The expenditure shows £14 10s 6d for cleaning school, and fuel £2 os 4c! ; repairs, £g 3s gd ; books, &c, £6 8s gd, and special grants £6 gs 6d ; printing, £1 4s 6d ; postages, 7s 6d ; prizes, £17 14s 6d ; fines, £4 16s. Balance, £16 15s 3d. Total, £79 10s 7d. The meeting then proceeded to elect a committee, when the following were nominated, and on a ballot being held received the number of votes placed after their names : — Messrs T. Westwood 18, P. Hennessy 17, J. W. Walsh 13, J. Morton 11, W. Woollass io, A. Speirs io, B. Spelman 8, C. V. Furrie 7, F. Easton 6. The first seven were declared duly 1 elected.
