Wreck of the Australia.
Further particulars have been received as to the wreck of the Uuion Sceara Ship Company's 8.8. Auslralia, which on Wednesday morning struck a reef off West k Point, to the north of the entrance to she Arthur river, on the Wast Coast of TasDiinia and had to be beached in order to prevent her sinking. It appears that the vessel steamed eight miles after striking, bat made so much water that the Captain was compelled to run her ashore. The weather wa9 fine at the time of the mishap. Captain Rogers stood at hii post till the last, and the crew acted coolly. Hough weather now prevent! communication with the vessel by sea. The passengers have been housed at the Arthur river ferrybouse, and will be conveyed overland to Stanley (Circular Head), o» the northern coait of the colony. The captain of the Australia reports that the vessel is a total wreck. She ia fast breaking up, and there is no hope of saving anything.
