Teachers' Health.
In accordance with the re6#nt^ decision of the Wanganui Education Board, that do teachers -known tps>e suffering from in^tipus lai|^ should be allowed to remain on duty in the schools, doctor's certificates of special examinations of four teachers were received at yesterday's meeting of the Board. With one exception all the certificates were favorable, but unfortunately Mr George Nye, of Oroua Bridge, was . found to be utterly unfit to cootinufc'*"* at work. In a pathetic letter to the Board, Mr Nye aunounoed the result' stating he waa not aware himself of the extent of his illnesi until the doctor had examined him. Mr Ny«
thanked the Board for the consideration hitherto extended to him, and askod to be allowed to resign from Ist May next. Mr Pirani said he thought that as Mr Nye had been eighteen years in the Board's service and the Inspector's report just received was a favorable one, at leaat six months' pay be granted to him and he be relieved at once, if that course could be legally adopted. Eventually Mr Nye was granted full pay to July 81st, and to ba relieved of doty at onoe. It was also decided to doss the school for a week and have it thoroughly fumigated.— Standard.
