PALMERSTON— WEDNESDAY

(Before His Honor Judge Kettle.)

BANKRUPTCY,

At the District Court yesterday afternoon the public examination of Mardon and Sons was continued and closed.

William Mardon said that if he had been allowed to speak at the meeting of creditors he would have been able to clear up the matter of the £45. The trap he sold to Yanko belonged to his grandson. He got £7 for it, and the money was given to the grandson. Henry Mardon said he knew absolutely nothing about the financial part of the business. Charles Mardon said he had no debts outside the firm's liabilities. When the £45 was divided up amongst . the firm he knew they were about to become bankrupt. Mr Innes asked that the application for discharge might be heard, but his Honor thought it advisable that the Crown Prosecutor should have an opportunity of looking over the evidence taken,. and the application was therefore adjourned until next sitting of the Court.

In re Charles Haywood, of Chelten ham, application for discharge.

The debtor, in his evidence, said he was compelled to file as he had been arrested on a judgement summons, and shortly before he had lost almost all his furniture in a fire. He had been bafijirupt three times before. His Honor said he would hold the discharge over for six months, the debtor in the meantime to keep an account of all his transactions, to be rendered to the D.O.A. monthly.— Standard.
