Foxton Borough Council.

A special meeting of the 1 Council was held at the Library Buildings last night at 7.30. ■■ . \ Present— The Mayor (Cr A. Fraser), and Crs T. Westwood, P. Hennessy, W. B. Rhodes, W. Purcell and J. W. Walsh. The Council went into Committee and on resuming the Mayor moved, and Cr Westwood seconded, That tenders be called for leasing thp y )Viroi kino Ferry for fifteen months from Ist May next, and that the successful tenderer shall, when called upon by the Council, remove the ferry from the present site to one either higher lip ' or lower down the river in accordance with specifications, and also fence and metal approaches to the same.^. Tenders to close at 6 p.m. on 25th-* April next. Carried. Proposed by Or West w<tt>d, seconded by Cr Purcell, That Mr E. A, Howe be requested to work the Wirokino Ferry tor one month from April Ist to May Ist, and that the clerk be empowered to make the necessary arrangements. Carried. Progosed by Cr Westwood, seconded by Cr Rhodes, That the Mayor be r instructed to make the necessary arrangements with Messrs Robinson and Davies in connection with the proposed removal of the ferry. Carried. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Walsh, That tenders be called for lighting the lamps of the Borough from nth April next until 31st December, 1899, to close at the ordinary meeting of the Council on 10th April next at 6 p.m. Carried. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Hennessy, That the Town Cler*"^' be empowered tp make arrangements for keeping lamps duly lighted until fresh tenders are received. Carried. The Council then adjourned.
