The Yarra Tragedy.
« The girl Dubberke has applied for such share of the £500 reward as she is entitled to as the informer. The Chief Justice, charging the jury, referred to the veracity of Dubberke and argued that immorality did not necessarily prevent a woman having good qualities. He gave Mary Magdalene as an example. The Superior Rodemptionist took exception to this, and considered Magdalene's association with Jesu« ought; to have been sufficient to protect her namo from being dragged in in connection with disreputable women of modern times. The Chief Justice has replied that he never heard it denied that Mag dalene lived an impure life. Her association with Jeaus was that of a repentant sinner.
