The Excursion on the River.
» vr , — Last night the moonlight excursion took place, the "Flower of Kent" with a large punt in tow, being filled with excursionists. The wharf was left at 7.45, and the Town Band played a number of enjoyable selections during the trip. Prior to starting the band also contributed several items. Everything went merrily, and although the moon was partly obscured and the night not as bright as could have been wished, the sea beach was arrived at in good time. The . excursionists went ashore at the beach and a number went in for fishing, but no "catches" were reported. After some time had been spent on the sands, the party were taken on board and the steamer's head turned for home. On the way coffee an J refreshments in abundance were provided and it is needless to say were much appreciated. The wharf was reached shortly before midnigmV a little later than expected, on account of the steamer grounding for a short time. The trip was very enjoyable, and everything passed oft most pleasantly.
