Arrival of the Whangaroa.
♦ The schooner Whangaroa, 132 tons — Cozens, master, G. A. Gainman & Co., owners — sailed from Newcastle on the 6th inst., with a full cargo of best Hetton coal for Foxton direct. Experienced a succession of light to moderate easterly and south easterly winds with long periods of calm. The vessel arrived off the bar at 11 a.m. yesterday, and sailed right up to the wharf, berthing shortly after noon. Although this is the longest passage the Whan garoa has yet made coming East, it 19 some consolation to Captain Cozens and the Messrs Gamman to know that out of a fleet of five vessels which sailed from Newcastle about the same time, she is the first to put in an appearance. The smart barquentine St. Kilda, belonging to Messrs Hatrick & Co., Wanganui, left Newcastle for Wanganui 2$ days previous to the Whangaroa's sailing, but has not so far arrived at her destination.
