1.0. G.T. Mission.

SUCCESSFUL MEETINGS. The Temperance mission held in , the Public Hall by the Grand Chiefs Templar has thus far proved an unqualified success. On Sunday Mr Taylor preached powerful sermons to large congregations in the Methodist Church, and after service he delivered his illustrated lecture on the "Wreck of the Wairarapa," at the PuSlie Hall. The story wan told in a very forcible manner, and the main incidents of the awful catastrophe were used to point a moral, Mr Taylor being very apt in getting home his points. The pictures were remarkably good and well shown, and wftt evidently appreciated, as there fUjri larger attendance last night to hear the lecture on " Some Startling Drink Facts," when Mr Taylor gave some splendid object lessons showing the waste in money, the loss in trade, and the appalling destruction of human life by the liquor traffic. These should have been sufficient to convince the moßfc sceptical that there in nothing but loss all round in oonneo* tion with the traffic in intoxicants. The lecture was listened to with great attention, only one citizen who had been imbibing too freely had to be shown to the door, and three hoodlums who did not know any better, had to have the attention of Constable Forster drawn to them bs< fore they could behave decently. During the evening Miss Anderson gang very sweetly " Throw Out Tho Life-line," and Mrs Woollass gave " Eternal Father," both items being greatly appreciated. To-night an* other set of views will be shown, en* titled " The Witness Box."
