Affairs in the Soudan.
♦ The Khalifa has abandoned his entrenched position in the vicinity of Lake Sherkeila, and is moving northward. He is in command of a large force, which is fiercely raiding tribes friendly to Anglo-Egyptians along the line of march. All British and Egyptian officers on leave have been recalled to Omdurman. The Daily News states that the Khalifa's army numbers 15,000 to 20.000, while Colonel Eitohener hat 9,000 troops at Omdurman.
