THE INQUEST.
An inquest into the cause of the death of both parties was commenced at the Royal Hotel on Saturday afternoon before the District Coroner, k Mtf G. M. Snelson, and a jury. / ■'* Evidence was given by J. Hall, F, Moorehouse, V. Kitchen, Nellie Cramond, Maggie Fahey, Dr Reed and Sergeant Wilson. Dr Reed was at once called in and pronounced life to be extinct in both cases. T*he bodies were identified by Mi Frank Moorshouse, who appears to fio the only person in Palmerston . acquainted with the deceased. The inquest was continued on Monday. The Coroner, in summing up, said that they could hardly entertain the suggestion that the woman had shot herself. In his mind there was no doubt the man did the deed, and that it was done when she was asleep, but as to whether she gave her consent the jury would have to decide for themselves.
