VERDICT FOR £1,500. In the Napier Supreme Court the Chief Jußtice and a jury of 12 were

occupied all day (Wednesday) hearing a breach of promise case, Emily French v. F. W. Robjohns, claiming £3000 damages. Mr Cresswell appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Jellicoe, of Wellington, for the defendant. The ca-^ is exciting considerable local attention, the parties being well known, and also from the fact that plaintiffs sister was married to the defendant's late brother. The case was continued on Thursday and lasted until late last night. Shortly before 11 p.m. the jury returned with a verdict for the plaintiff for £1500. There were great demonstrations on the part of the spectators in the Court in favour of the plaintiff when the verdict was declared.
