London. THE BRITISH COAL TRADE. The British Coal Trade Conciliation Board has recommended the increase >f wages by 5 per cent, in April, and an additional 7i per cpnt in October. AN OVERDUE STEAMER. Great anxiety is felt as to the safety of the Canard Uampany'e steamer Pavonia, a vessel of 5587 ton 3 gross and 4000 horsepower, which is now much overdue. A serious hurricane was lately reported from the Azire*, and it is feared that the Pavonia was caught in it and disabled. THE FATE OF ANDREE. Dr Nansen, Baron Nordensbjola >nd Herra Sradling, the Artie xplorers, discredit the reported finding of the remains of the Andree expedition ia the Yeniseisk province <>f Siberia. TIDAL WAVE. A destructive tidal wave has been experienced south of Wales. It rose 1 1 a height of forty feet and flooded rhe low lying coastal arra. Its were also felt at Gloucester--hire. Portions of the Severn bridge were damaged and the Monmouth ompany's railway damaged at Sydney^in Forest Dean. ENGLAND AND FRANCE IN EGYPT. It is semi-officially stated that an equitable arrangement i 3 expected to be made with Great Britain in regard to Egypt. It is admitted that the legality of the steps taken by Faance towards obtaining a commercial outlet to the Nile and the delimitation of the Bahr-el-Ghazal and Übangi regions actually raises a delicate issue ; but when the broad lines of demarcation have been arranged the Commissioners will fix further detail?, and diplomacy meantime will terminate a conflict that was lately ipparently so formidable.
