He had no horse or trap before the bankruptcy, but he sold a dray a fortnight before for £9. The fibre sold was sent lo Patterson & Co., of Wellington, and the payments made appear in the books. His wife has no property. and witness was now working f ir h r for wages, as she owned the plan". She commenced business in July, 1898. About 16 hands are engaged/ The engine came from Wood & Co., of Chrietchurch, and the stripper from Booth & McDonald. The horses were obtained frcm Feilding and Palmerston, and were bought for Mrs Mardon at £26 each. Mr Westwood, of Foxton, financed their business for them. He could not say how much had been/ paid on the engine. His brothers were getting £2 per week and board while working for Mardon. The D.O.A. then proceeded to examine the debtor as to a transaotion of £40 with Patterson & Co., whereupon His Honor said that he thought a publio examination of the debtor should take place at the next Bitting of the Court, and he adjourned the application accordingly.— Standard.
