Wirokino Bridge.

At the last meeting of the Horo whenua County Council a letter .was read from the Department of Lands and Survey, forwarding copy of warrant authorising the Foxton Borough Council to erect a bridge at Wirokino, and also from Mr J. E. Fulton, engineer, stating that the plans were before the Marine Department. The Chairman complained against the warrant being issued before the plans of the proposed bridge had been submitted for the approval of the Council. The Act stipulated a ' fixed tim 9 for such plans to lay on ' the table. This had not been com • ' plied with, and as the river was a ; navigable one, and as it seemed pro* < bable the proposed bridge wonld not < be co constructed as to admit of ' small steamers passipg through or \ under it, he considered he had good ' jause to protest. ] Cr Davies accused Cr Venn of t jeing an obstructionist, and said he s vas surprised to hear a protest from i \ representative whose district was i tot called upon to contribute a single c jenny. Furthermore, he understood he bridge was to be 20ft above high rater mark, which would admit of . ny vessel likely to trade on the iver passing underneath. 1 q

After further discussion, it was resolved, on the motion of Cr Engels, ? seconded by Cr Richards, " tThat the f Clerk be instructed to write to the [.
