Sensational Accident.

A WONDERFUL ESCAPE.

A serious accident occurred at Mr Clare's refreshment rooms yesterday at Palmerston to Miss Fanny Bauckham, of Ashurst, 17 years old. She was placing a sack over a skylight in the refreshment room, when she slipped and fell through the glass to the floor, a distance of over 16ft, alighting on her head. She sustained a scalp wound, which bled freely, a slight concussion of the brain, besides a number of small scratches on her arms and face. Dr Reed was called in and ordered the girl's removal to Mr Clare's residence, where she is getting on splendidly. Looking at the locality of the accident and the broken glass about, the marvel is that so little injury was sustained by the victim of the accident. — " Standard."
