ORDINARY MEETING.

The Council held an ordinary meeting this morning at 11 a.m. Present— The Mayor (Cr Frase:*), and Crs Hennessy, Rhodes, Weo'.wood. The minutes of the last meeiag w.ire confirmed. Proposed by the Mayor seconded by Cr Hennessy, That the names be placed on the Eurgess Roll— James Collins occupier section 510 Coley street in place of Maria Bismark, Mary Ann Spiers, occupier section 533 jo".mston street in place of Bank N.£. Proposed by the Mayor seconded by Cr Hennessy, That the business people of Foxton be requested to observe the 26th 27th of December as Xmas bolMays and 2nd 3rd of January ißgg as New Year's holiday. Proposed by Cr Rhodes seconded by Cr Westwood, That the Mayor, Alfred Fraser sign the Council's cheques in place of John Rainbow Stansell ex Mayor. Proposed by Cr Westwood, and seconded by Cr. Hennessy, That the fencing contract on Reserve through bush be offered first to E. Coley .and if declined to Martin and Chamberlain as per tender and that the matter be left in the hands of the Town Clerk. The following tenders were opened —Street lighting, P. Guerin, £31 ; T. Chamberlain, £30. Tenders for ranging were — P. Guerin, 27s 6d per month ; T. Chamberlain, 25s per month. There was only one tender for dog tax, H. Bradcock at iod per dog. Proposed by Cr. Rhodes, seconded by Cr. Westwood, That the tender of Mr T. Chamberlain for lighting street lamps at £30 per annum be accepted. Proposed by Cr. Westwood, seconded by Cr. Rhodes, That the tender of H. Bradcock for collecting dog tax at iod psr dog be accepted. Proposed by Cr. Hennessy, seconded by Cr. Westwood, That the tender of P. Guerin for ranger be accepted for j the sum of 27s 6d per month. !
