Rangitikei Advocate Office Burned.
The Advocate Office and the two buildings adjoining were burned down on Tuesday night between ten and eleven o'olook. The fire originated in the upstair room of the Advocate and spread to Laing's shop and dwelling house on one side and Bishop's on the other. Snellgrove'*? shop adjoining the latter was saved with difficulty. Tne Advocate machine room, built of brick, resisted the fire. There is nn explanation of the origin of the fire and it had such a hold when the brigade arrived that there was no possibility of arresting its progress till tbe three buildings were totally destroyed, The Advocate loss amounts to about £800. The type and stock were insured in the Standard for £500. Bishop wap injured in the New Zealand for £150 and Laing for £850 Tbe Advocate office, valued at £500, was insured for £200 in the Standard and £150 in the New Zealand. The Advocate will be brought out to day, as there is sufficient type saved, with the help of the Fielding office of tbe paper, to go on with.
