With regard to affair? in Ch.na, \marica desired equal treatment -vith other nations, and the Amen can Minister at Pekin has been nstructed to secure, the fullest pro tection and instant reparation for -my injury to American interests. Tbe warship at Tientsin would act f needful to ensure order. The relations with Great Britain are stated to be of the most friendly and happy character. There was also a proapoct of greater trade facilities between America and Canada. At the opening of the Congress the chaplain prayed for b'essing on the Queen Regent of Spain and her •-on, and also for the up'iftiog ot her stricken people.
