A SCENE IN COURT.
The hearing of the charge of shooting Mrs Dick against the woman McWiliiam produced a very unpleasant scene in the Wellington S.M. Court yesterday. The accused continually interrupted the witnesses, and when Mrs Dick ap. peared loaded her with foul abuse, accusing her of robbing her and so on. So persistent was she that Mr Kenny at length consulted with Mr Skerrett, who appeared for the Crown as to whether it would not be possible to remove the woman and go on with the case in her absence, but this of course was not found feasible, and there was nothing for it but to proceed. The watch-house keeper said that when the prisoner was brought into the station she said Mrs Dick had robbed her of £tooo, and meant to kill her, and was sorry she did not.
Prisoner denied this and said she only intended to maim her, as killing was too good. She wanted to make her suffer as she had made prisoner. Eventually she was committed for trial, punctuating the magistrate's formal charge with a fire of inter* jections. Mr Kenny said in all his experience he had never seen a woman behave so disreputable in court before.
