In connection with the Kiaochu frontier settlement, Germany obtained from China the concession of the Loisan Mountains and Tahatur Harbour, with a sphere of influence extending over 50 kilometres of the surrounding territory. A British-Chinese corporation has contracted for the construction of the railway connecting Su Ohan, Hangshou and Ningpo on terms identical with those on which they contracted to construct the railway connecting Shanghai, Su-Ohan, and Nanking. The mob at Paklung killed and burnt the French missionary and several converts. Franca claims an indemnity for the outrage. The Anglo-German agreement recognises the Yangt9e Valley as England's railway shere, and Shantung Yellow river as Germany's sphere.
