LARCENY.
Edward Fuhrman was charged by the police with that he did on or about the month of August last commit the theft of one pair of sculls the property of the Manawatu Rowing Club. J. F. Overend, J. H. Howon, J. Wilson, and Andrew Pearson gave evidence, and Constable Forster said on arresting the accused in answer to the charge said he had found them.
The accused made a statement that he had found the oars on the river bank, broken, and he had sawed them off and trimmed them up. The Bench said that taking into consideration his being a foreigner the option of a fine instead of imprisonment would be inflicted. He would therefore be fined 40s or 14 days imprisonment with hard labour in Wanganui Gaol.
