Mayoralty Elections.
At the suggestion of Mr Pownall Mayor of Masterton, (he Borough Council has decided to ask the solicitor to the Municipal Association for an opinion on the following questions :— " (1) Whether any election of Mayor oan be held in November next ; seeing that the procedure of election under $be Municipal Corporations Act /is practically abrogated by section 17 of the Municipal Franchise Reform Act, and no new procedure is provided thereby until after April ne&t f (2) If such election is to be held, what roll is to be us< d ? (8) Whether all persons coming under the new qualifies*? hn for veins' constituted by the p-iitl Reform Act are not now absolutely entitled to be enrolled on the burgee list forthwith under section 8 of the paid Act."
Iv reply to a similar inquiry made by the Mayor of Wellington tb.9 City Solicitor baa given it as bis opinion thai the constituency for the forthcoming Mayoral election mast be <\\h s.'inw as it was last year.
